Erick Sandoval wins
· Azteca America's representative, Carmen from San Francisco, came in third place and also received a record deal with Azteca Music. · Azteca America thanks the La Academia 2011 audience that eagerly followed the program over the past four months. Los Angeles, December 19, 2012- Azteca America is pleased to announce the winner of La Academia 2012: Erick Sandoval, from Mexicali, Baja California. The victory is an important step for Erick toward international stardom. Thanks to a solid performance, passion and charisma, Erick won the hearts of the audiences of La Academia, one of the most widely-recognized reality shows in Latin America. As the overall winner, Erick was awarded $50,000 in cash, a recording contract with Azteca Music, and a scholarship to study at the CEFAT acting school, among other great prizes. Carmen, who represented Azteca America from San Francisco, was successful until the final round, where she placed third. She has established herself as a role model within the U.S. Latino community as an example of someone who has worked to make her dreams come true. Both she and Pablo, who placed second and hails from Argentina, received important recording contracts with Azteca Music. Other Azteca America representatives who made it to the final concert were Ronald, from Miami, who placed fifth, and Gustavo, from Chicago, who placed sixth. La Academia 2011 reached the hearts of millions of people throughout the Americas in the past four months. The spectacular final took place in the beautiful Mexican state of Chiapas. Congratulations go out to the production team that was more than 800 people strong, and of course to Erick Sandoval, who has made living history within La Academia. The international pop sensation, LaToya Jackson, made a return for the final concert of La Academia 2011 to wish luck to the ten finalists Emanuel, Yanilen, Hancer, Ceci, Gil, Gustavo, Ronald, Carmen, Pablo and Erick, also sing one of her hits: “Just Wanna Dance.” Other International superstars in attendance were Marta Sanchez, who sang the theme song of the telenovela "A Corazón Abierto" together with Samuel, the winner of the fifth generation of La Academia, as well as grupero superstar Julio Preciado, who lent moral support to the contestants and sang a group number that included “Mi Gusto Es” and “El Sinaloense.” One of the surprises of the night was that Lizbeth, from Guerrero, returned to the stage that saw her triumph to present her new album “Si Nos Dejan,” while Paolo, the second place finisher of La Academia Bicentenario, gave a preview of his new album that he is recording in Miami. The night was full of stars, beginning with an orange carpet ceremony featuring the most glamorous stars of Azteca America, such as Mauricio Islas, Gaby Spanic, Edith González, Mauricio Barcelata, Luis Felipe Tovar, Lili Brillanti, Ivonne Montero, Alejandra Lazcano, Aline Herández, Ariel López Padilla, Sergio Basañez and more.
